- Why did you choose to go into a profession in law?
I definitely went through my fair share of professions that I wanted to be in, from the medical field to veterinary work to accounting, but the criminal justice field has always been something that’s interested me. Shows like Law & Order SVU and How to Get Away with Murder were some of my favorite shows, and even though I know they dramatize the legal field, the concepts portrayed were still interesting. As soon as I began taking criminal justice and law classes at Youngstown State University, I knew I was in the right field.
- What do you find most challenging and rewarding about being in a legal career?
One of the most challenging aspects of working in the legal field is probably reading through some police reports that can be hard to stomach and emotionally draining. It’s definitely rewarding when clients are happy with their outcome and the work we put into their cases.
3. Why do you choose to stay in Youngstown to work?
I was born and raised in Campbell, so working in the Youngstown area was a no-brainer. I’m already familiar with the area, and I really like becoming familiar with the surrounding courts. Since I’m just getting my foot in the door before starting my career, I think it’s useful to make connections with as many people in this area as possible.
4. How did you come to work at Hartwig Law?
I actually had Attorney Czopur as a professor my sophomore year, and he’s friends with Attorney Hartwig. He knew that Attorney Hartwig was looking to hire someone to help out, so he recommended me. I’m grateful because without Attorney Czopur, I wouldn’t have had the pleasure of working with Attorney Hartwig, Attorney Cassese, and Simonne.
5. What do you like to do in your spare time when you are not at Hartwig Law?
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend, Caitlyn, and I love picking on our cats, Luna and Nox.
